A little about me

Everyone has one of these.   Likely not too many people read this stuff but here ya' go for the inquisitive.

Well.  I'm short.   There you go.  Hope you liked it.

So you want more huh?

Well, lessee-First off these are Cliffs Notes-too many adventures and tales for one page.   Born in 1966.  Somehow still alive-miracle in itself.  I was diagnosed with Diabetes at age 22 months.  Giving myself shot a was part of my daily routine for years so I never understood people's aversion to needles.

Bout the age of six I went totally deaf-lasted a few months but I regained about 40% on the Left side.  Hearing aid helps but they can be annoying.

Through H.S. I wanted to be a Marine but, no joy there.  Decided I wanted to be a Naturalist then a Paleontologist-I have a great fossil collection from all over.

Took a job in a Veterinary clinic in my early 20's and moved up rather quickly-was getting ready to go to school and get a liscense.   Then the Diabetes started taking my eyesight.  Diabetic Retinopathy they said, be blind in your 30's they said-lots of laser and an open eye surgery so the Vet work was out and I ended up working on a Thourobred farm run by a friend.

It was nice, no one but me, my three-legged cat, the horses and the coyotes.  Well, there was that one instance when the owner of the horses dumped an illegal on the property with a change of clothes and guess where HE was going to stay?  Yeah, my 15x10' cabin-of course he brought no food.  Two days later he brings out his GF and her two kids.   They *did* bring food tho they cooked and ate it all using mine to fill in the holes.  That lasted three days till I told the boss I was gonna bury then in a ravine and let the coyotes eat them.   He was gone the next morning but the farm shut down a year later.   Headed to Florida to stay with my dad and see what happened.

Between the time of the stroke and transplant I traveled a bit more-out to Arizona for one.  [[Yeah, the whole never walk again thing?   I don't play that game.]]

Got to see the White Buffalo Miracle Moon-I thought I was going to die that day so went to see her and figured I could do a hospital in Flag as easy as Sedona.

Back to Texas and a year later I get a kidney and pancreas.   No more Diabetes-THAT took some adjusting to.  Heck, ten years later I still dream I need to take a shot.

Three weeks after the transplant I was hiking the Redwoods and Oregon coastline.

Took a few more trips then headed East to get married.  And here I is.  Sitting in my home, working on images and listening to one of the dogs clatter around behind me.

Like I said-there is more-a lot more but it gives you something behind the images and the drive to capture what I do.  The how do I do it?   Natural Instinct like breathing and breeding-I just can.  No formal training required.

So, if you like the work please, feel free to purchase some.   Don't have a place to put it?   I can always use a box of cigars.  My only bad habit the docs let me keep so I am keeping it.  ;)

Anyway, I hope you like the work here and check back-what is here is perhaps 1% of my work so I will change it up and swap things out over time.

So..about those cigars..?

Between Texas and Florida I ended up in the Michigan U.P. as a bear hunting guide assistant-took up photography instead.   Figured if I was going blind I would shoot lots of pics, have them described to me and I would remember those places.   Funny but after 30 years I can still look at my images and tell you where and general location/time, etc of where it was taken-that is three printer paper boxes and 2 Terrabytes of images I am talking about but I cannot remember where I put my Sunglasses an hour ago.

Anyway, got to Florida, started college under the states Division for the Blind.  Was an A/B student [[Funny, my grades sucked in school]]  Had some fun, took some pictures, Blind Services shut the program down and, since my dad had moved I was left with no income and eventually no place to live so I lived in a tent for a couple of years while I worked on getting situated or moved elsewhere.

Headed back to Texas.  Did some traveling around while there but home was Texas.   In 2001 I woke up and the world had turned sideways.   Literally.  The day before I felt a bit dizzy after work and overnight I had a stroke.   Once again they said some 'Nevers'...I hate 'Never', never going to walk, talk or take care of self.     Yeah, ok.   Three months after the stroke I woke up bloated and looking like Budda.  Complete Renal failure.  3 years of Dialysis and I got a kidney transplant
